Dear friends,

We have been raising money to pay for our upgraded septic system which as you know has failed to process our waste.  Due to your generosity, we have raised about half of the cost of the new system which is $45,000.   I have borrowed the rest of the money to finish the job.  To cover the expense, we are continuing our fundraising campaign.

The Great Mountain Zen Center is a non-profit rural refuge where people find peace and relief from the present-day chaos through the practice of meditation. As we know, everything is subject to the laws of impermanence, and this is especially so for an old building in the country.

Unfortunately, our simple life here has been disrupted by a septic system that decided that it would not take any more shit from us. In order to maintain our open programs for those who seek the authentic Zen teachings, we need to put in a new leach field for our septic system. We cannot operate without upgrading the system. It is expensive – much more than our modest budget allows. The cost to test the soil for the drain field, design the system, get the county permits, excavate the site and install the new pipes will come to more than $45,000.

People come to the Zen Center to let go of their unhealthy habit patterns and to realize their Buddha Nature. The buildings and grounds need to dispose of their unneeded toxins.

We need your help to accomplish that goal. Please help us by contributing what you can.  https://gofund.me/7912d783 or send a check directly to
